A fuel injected, BSIV compliant Royal Enfield has been on the cards for some time now. The new, fuel injected version of the car was primed for a launch a couple of months earlier, but Royal Enfield refrained to launch it officially for some reasons. In fact, a couple of months back, the fuel injected version of the off-road friendly machine made an appearance on the RE site with details about the fuel injection system as well as the power and torque output. Royal Enfield had updated the technical specifications sheet on its official website, adding “Electronic fuel injection” instead of “Carburettor with throttle position sensor” in the Fuel System column.
After some delay, however, it seems that the BS IV Himalayan with FI is ready for a launch and will be officially available in dealerships from September 2017. Some RE dealerships have started accepting bookings for the motorcycle for a token amount of INR 5500 in Mumbai.
Motoroids got in touch with a few dealerships of RE in Mumbai and the personnel at the showrooms acknowledged that the new version of the motorcycles was slated to arrive shortly. Test rides for the new motorcycles at dealerships would start in the next few days according to the sales officials. The expected price for the bike as quoted for Mumbai is INR 200,000 ex-showroom, though the landing price will be available once the current confusion about the taxes on motorcycles in Maharashtra is cleared.
The new version of the motorcycle already has a 2 month waiting period. The power and torque output for the FI version of the motorcycle remains same as before and is rated at 24.5 bhp @ 6500 rpm and 32Nm @ 4250 rpm respectively. There’s no ABS on offer on the motorcycle.
We hope that the issues relating to the motorcycle have now been sorted and the buyers would be able to enjoy their adventure oriented machine in a trouble free manner.
