Pune Automotive Racing Association (PARA) to organize a dirt track and autocross event in Pune

Team PARA will organize a first of its kind motorsport event in Pune. The unique event will have a dirt track run for two-wheelers and an autocross for four-wheelers organized together for the first time in Pune. The venue for the event to be organised on 2nd may 2010 will be at Shah Property, Behind Fire Brigade Ground, GangaDham Chowk, Bibwewadi – Kondhwa Road, Pune.

The event has seven classes for two-wheelers and an equal number of classes for four wheelers. Here are some more details about the event that may be of interest to both participants as well as spectators.

Length of the track : 1.5km

Width of the track : 15ft.

Surface : Flat dirt track

No. of turns on the track : 5 (including 2 hairpin bends and 1 long sweeping bend)

2 Wheelers will be given a mass start

For 4 Wheelers

Participants will be timed in automatic timers

There will be 3 laps and the best lap of the three laps will be used for the result

The event is designed in such a manner that even normal road going cars can participate in the event without compromising on safety in any way

Many well-known drivers from Pune and adjoining areas will be participating in the event. Some of the better known drivers of the lot include Sanjay Takale, Bahyram Godrej, Sanket Shanbhag, Allan Almeida and in Ladies Class – Prachi Shah & Smitha Gondkar

The event will held under the International Sporting Codes of the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) for 2 wheelers and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) for 4 wheelers, the National Competition Rules (NCR) and appendices of The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and some other Supplementary Regulations (SRs – please check attachments for rules)

Some of the basic guidelines/rules to be followed for participation in the rally are as follows:

Any person/legal entity may enter this meet. Every driver/rider should be a holder of a currently valid four/two wheeler FMSCI competition licence.

For 4 wheeler, the minimum requirement is Club-sport license for Autocross / Hill Climb

@ Rs.550/-.

For Group D in 2 wheelers, the minimum requirement is One Event @ Rs.100/- OR

Restricted license for Dirt Track. For Groups A/B/C the minimum requirement is One event @ Rs.200/- OR

Full license for Dirt Track.

VEHICLE – ELIGIBILITY / EVENT

Any entrant wishing to enter a vehicle for this event must ensure that, at the date of scrutinizing, the vehicle is prepared according to the prescriptions of the NCR for thegroups and classes mentioned below:

CLASSES FOR MOTORCYCLES AND CARS

CARS MANUFACTURED / SOLD IN INDIA

1. from 1101 cc. to 1400 cc.

2. 1401 cc. to 2000 cc.

3. 2001 cc. and above

4. SUV’s 2500cc and above

5. Maruti Gypsy Class / Indian Expert Class.

6. ATV’s (Baja)

7. Ladies class (can drive any vehicle or as specified).

MOTORCYCLES

1 Foreign motorcycles up to 500 cc. Group A

2 Indian motorcycles up to 260 cc.Group B

3 Indian motorcycles up to 260 cc Group C Novice

4 Indian motorcycles up to 260 cc Group D Inter Collegiate Class.

5 Indian scooters up to 160 cc. group C.

6 ladies class (Indian scooters up to 160 cc. Group D or as specified)

7. Enfield Bullets up to 500cc. Group B.

NOTE: Any participant who has placed himself (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) in any Dirt / Motocross / Road event will not be considered as a NOVICE.

ENTRY FEES

Entry fees for each class is Rs.2000/- for cars, and Rs.500/- for motorcycles. One participant can take part in maximum 3 classes. Late fees may be charged after the closing of entries.

FMSCI Licence fee for four wheelers / two wheelers will be in addition to the entry fee. This is only applicable to the participants not possessing FMSCI Competition Licence.

All remittances must be payable in Cash or Demand Draft only. The organisers reserve the right not to accept any cheque.

A DRIVER/RIDER WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY THREE CLASSES. THE ORGANISERS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES PER CLASS.

Entry fee will be refunded by the organisers only in the following circumstances:

1. If entry is not accepted.

2. If the Meet is cancelled

3. If a reserved entry is finally not accepted.
