Porsche began offering diesel engines with the introduction of the 3.0-litre V6 diesel motor on the Cayenne back in the year 2009. Later, Porsche introduced diesel engines on the Panamera and the Macan as well. The latest Cayenne, which is currently in its third generation, was launched in August last year but was offered only with the petrol and hybrid powertrain options.

The company stated that it has stopped offering the Macan and the Panamera in the diesel guise across the globe as well. It further stated that diesel vehicles were contributing to just 15% of its sales while 35% was for the petrol vehicles and the rest of the 50% was for the hybrid vehicles. With the production of the Diesel engines coming to an end, Porsche will now be concentrating on its Mission-E electric car, which is likely to make its debut in 2019.
