It seems that many luxury carmakers have caught on to the trend of special edition models in their lineup. The year 2021 saw the launch of many new special edition BMWs with cosmetic updates. Porsche also joined the bandwagon when it launched the Panamera Platinum edition back in December. Now, it has given the Platinum edition treatment to its SUV, the Cayenne. The Cayenne Platinum edition has been launched at ₹1.47 Crore for the standard model and ₹1.88 for the E-Hybrid model. Buyers can also opt for the Coupe body style for the same price. What’s new?
Similar to the Panamera Platinum edition, the Cayenne Platinum edition doesn’t see any changes to its design. The changes are limited to the exterior and interior in the form of cosmetics. The exterior can be had in four metallic colors- Jet Black, Carrara White, Mahogany, Moonlight Blue, and ‘Crayon’. The exterior gets satin finish on the front air intakes and the badges. The car runs on grey 21-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. It also gets LED Matrix headlights with PDLS Plus (Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus).
Unlike the Panamera Platinum edition, it misses out on the contrasting neon green brake calipers. Other details include black-colored sports exhaust pipes and window trim. The interior gets an all-black theme. The door sills are finished in brushed aluminum and they get a Platinum Edition logo. The interior trims are finished in silver and the seatbelts are colored in ‘Crayon’ color. The black leather seats get the Porsche Logo embossed in their headrests.
The Platinum edition adds more standard equipment to the Cayenne. It gets a premium Bose surround-sound system, ambient lighting, an eight-way electrically adjustable leather sports seat, and a special analog clock on the dashboard. Other than this, it comes standard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, privacy glass, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and a part-digital instrument cluster.
The Cayenne Platinum Editio is available with two powertrain choices. The first is a 3-liter turbocharged petrol V6 engine that produces 335hp and 450nm of torque. The second option is the E-Hybrid variant that adds a 17.9 kWh battery which bumps up the power to a total of 455hp. Both the engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic.
