Piaggio unveils India bound Aprilia RSV4 factory superbike and Vespa LX125 scooter

Renowned Italian auto manufacturer, Piaggio unveiled the Aprilia RSV4 FACTORY at the Mumbai International Auto Show. The stunning superbike is on its way to India, and will be available in the showrooms in a few months’ time. The bookings for the bike have started in the meantime. The company also displayed the Vespa LX 125 scooter – the iconic retro styled scooter.

Confirming that Piaggio is indeed bringing the two vehicles to India, Mr. Ravi Chopra, Chairman and MD of Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd said “We are in the process of bringing our global lineup of highly successful superbikes to India.” Further, about the LX 125 scooter he said, “We are also looking forward to the launch of the iconic Vespa in the country soon.”

The RSV4 is a 999.6cc superbike which is known the world over for its racing pedigree. Pushing out 180 horses, the V4 engined bike tops the wishlist of most Italian bike connoisseurs. Although the price for the bike in India has not been revealed, it could sell for anything from Rs 14-20 lakh, depending on the variant.
Piaggio has set up its new plan in India at Baramati, which is good for an annual production of 1.5 lakh two wheelers. The company would utilize the plant for manufacturing the Vespa scooters from early next year. The plant will also make 1.0 and 1.2-litre diesel engines for the company’s commercial vehicles.
