A few weeks ago we showed you a video of the Ferrari 599XX creating a new lap record around the Nurburgring. The car, although not a series production machine tried to create some buzz around the new record by claiming the fastest time set by a production-derived track car. This started a new category, leading to a series of attempts by various different sports car companies to lay claim on the fastest time around the green hell. The Ferrari registered a lap time of 6:58, successfully breaking the 7 minute barrier.
Now the record has apparently been bettered by a car from Pagani, Ferrari’s close neighbors. The Zonda R sports car from the Modena based supercar manufacturer has bettered the lap record set by the 599XX by a whopping 11 seconds. Although a video for the feat has not been released by Pagani yet, the report seems to be quite credible. We are keeping an eye to see if any videos are released. Stay tuned…
