British marque Norton which made news with its V4 series of performance motorcycles recently signed a £3 million deal with Santander Corporate & Commercial to ramp up the production capacity. The two-wheeler brand currently has the capacity of around 500 motorcycles per year in its Donington Hall facility. The folks at Nortan intend to increase that number to over 1,500 bike per year by Summer.
Speaking about the new investment and ramp up in production, Stuart Garner, CEO Norton Motorcycles said, “Santander has been able to provide an incredibly flexible suite of banking facilities that fully suits our needs. Having developed and pre-sold a huge number of bikes, we needed the funding to be readily available to pay for tooling, stock and people to allow production to move from 40 bikes per month to in excess of 130 bikes with effect from summer 2017. The simplicity of the Santander facility met our requirements exactly.”
In November 2016, Nortan revealed its new 200 bhp V4 RR & V4 SS motorcycles. The motorcycles gets a Isle of Man TT developed chassis with a complete carbon fibre bodywork, a carbon fibre fuel tank, and an all new 1200cc engine. The 1200cc 72-degree V-twin engine which develops 200bhp of power (standard) and 210bhp (with race system). The V4 RR & V4 SS are limited in numbers. The Norton V4 SS will be limited to 200 units whereas the RR model will be limited to 250 units.

The new funding, as aforementioned, will allow Norton to expand its production capacity and deliver the motorcycles to the customer quicker. The expansion will also result in 40 new staff being hired.
