Customized Bajaj Dominar

The next premium Bajaj motorcycle could be a Dominar based 400cc Scrambler

Trust Bajaj Auto to venture into segments, others would probably shy away from. When they aren’t doing that, they somehow create an entirely new segment of motorcycles altogether. Proof being their V15. With their latest, the Dominar 400 doing pretty well in the market, they’re long done patting their backs and are getting ready to offer something new. This time, a Scrambler!

According to a report, a few sources within Bajaj Auto have confirmed the development of a Scrambler which will be based on the Dominar 400. The bike will be launched under a new sub-brand altogether, and apparently, the manufacturer is already in the process of registering the new brand and is looking for an agency to handle PR and ad work. The news cannot be all gas either, as recently in an interview, Rajiv Bajaj, CEO, Bajaj Motorcycles had spoken about the company’s intent to launch a new premium motorcycle in the Rs.1 lakh – Rs. 2 lakh bracket. However, when asked to be more specific about the product, as always, he chose to keep everyone guessing by stating that the new bike could be a KTM, a Husqvarna, or even a new brand altogether.

Bajaj will certainly look to cash in on the universal popularity of Scramblers and considering the fact that the only product in India that fits in that segment right now is a Ducati, their as usual value-for-money proposition will definitely find many takers. There are also rumors that the upcoming premium motorcycle could be the fully-faired RS400, but what finally comes out will definitely widen the choice for the Indian biker. Whatever it is, these are definitely good times to be riding a motorcycle.
