It has emerged that Mahindra and Mahindra has planned to launch one higher and one low-end variant of the XUV500. It may be noted that the Mahindra XUV500 has to be among the best things to have happened to Mahindra in recent times. The XUV500 has been clocking decent sales figures and the SUV is also exported to some markets outside India. Such has been the response to the XUV500 that the latest SUV from the Indian auto manufacturer has become the country’s fastest SUV to register 50,000 sales.
At present, the only SUV that threatens to take away the crown of the fastest selling SUV from Mahindra XUV500 is the Renault Duster. With the upcoming launch of the much awaited Ford EcoSport, Mahindra plans to prepare itself well to fend off the increasing competition. Mahindra recently overtook Tata Motors to become the third largest selling Indian car maker and the auto manufacturer now plans to plug in all the gaps in its product portfolio to safeguard its market share.
