New Skoda Superb Diesel Revealed For India Ahead Of 2027 Launch

Yesterday, Skoda unveiled the much needed Slavia facelift, and if you thought that was the biggest highlight of the event, there was another big surprise. The brand also showed its flagship fourth generation Superb for India. More importantly, Skoda has confirmed a diesel TDI engine for the sedan. After almost six years, a Skoda diesel is back in India.

The new Superb will be sold in the Laurin & Klement trim as a CBU. Deliveries are planned from the second quarter of 2027. Customer expressions of interest are now open.

Engine And Gearbox

The India spec Superb uses a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo diesel engine. It makes 150hp and 360Nm and gets a 7 speed DSG automatic. Power goes to the front wheels.

  • 0 to 100kph in 9.2 seconds
  • Top speed of 225kph
  • Front wheel drive layout
  • Progressive Dynamic Steering
  • Dynamic Chassis Control

The 193hp diesel with AWD that was shown at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo will not be offered here.

Exterior Design

The fourth generation Superb keeps the long and elegant shape that has always been associated with the name. It is a large sedan with a length of 4,912mm and a wheelbase of 2,841mm.

At the front, the car gets Skoda’s signature grille with chrome slats and a chrome surround. The headlights use Matrix LED technology and also get cornering functionality. LED daytime running lights with welcome and goodbye animations add a modern touch.

The front bumper has honeycomb air intakes along with a horizontal chrome element. The bonnet gets clean lines and the side profile has sharp creases running across the doors.

Key highlights –

  • Matrix LED headlights
  • LED daytime running lights
  • Chrome grille
  • Honeycomb front air intakes
  • 18 inch dual tone alloy wheels
  • Chrome window surrounds
  • Laurin & Klement badges
  • Wraparound LED tail lights
  • Skoda lettering on the tailgate
  • Welcome and goodbye light animations

The rear design is simple but premium. The LED tail lights wrap around the sides and the boot gets the Skoda lettering instead of the traditional circular badge.

Interior And Features

The cabin is where the Superb feels more like a proper executive sedan. The India spec model gets a black and Cognac colour theme with leatherette upholstery. The dashboard has a clean layout and is dominated by a large 12.9 inch touchscreen.

There is also a 10 inch digital driver’s display and a three spoke steering wheel. The centre console gets Skoda’s rotary controls with small digital screens for functions such as climate and audio.

The front seats are powered and come with several comfort functions.

  • 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 10-inch digital driver’s display
  • 14-speaker Canton sound system
  • Three-zone climate control
  • Heated front seats
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Massage function for front seats
  • Three memory settings for front seats
  • Wireless phone charging
  • Powered tailgate with gesture control
  • Rear sunblinds

Skoda has also added extra insulation to reduce road and engine noise. The rear seats get adjustable headrests and two blankets as part of the Sleep Package. There is also a through loading facility behind the rear centre armrest.

The cabin does not get a sunroof on the India spec version. For a car focused on rear seat comfort, the focus instead is on space, quieter surroundings and the long list of comfort features.

Safety And Driver Assistance

Skoda has packed the sedan with 10 airbags, a 360 degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, automatic parking assistance and tyre pressure monitoring. These features should make the large sedan easier to use in daily traffic as well as on long trips.

What Else Is Happening At Skoda

The Superb was not the only Skoda news from the event. Bookings for the new Slavia facelift are open now, with deliveries planned for this festive season. The Octavia RS has also returned, and bookings for its second batch of 50 units are open.

For the Superb, Skoda has opened expressions of interest, with deliveries expected in Q2 2027. Its price is likely to sit around Rs 55 lakh to Rs 60 lakh, although the final figure will be announced closer to launch. The India EU Free Trade Agreement could also affect its final price if lower import duties apply.
