All this while, the Skoda Rapid face-lift had been testing with clever camouflaging that was deceptively exposing. Now, new spy images reveal the true details of its aesthetic enhancements. The face-lift will put the Indian Rapid closer to its European namesake in terms of styling. That means there’ll be a sharper grille that fits into Skoda’s current scheme of things, smarter looking headlamps and a completely reworked front bumper that’ll feature sharper lines as well.
The sides seem to continue unchanged, while at the rear, the Rapid facelift will get new tail lamp graphics and a subtly updated bumper. Inside, the Skoda Rapid facelift is expected to feature updates to the interior trim, while the the top-end variant should get a touchscreen equipped infotainment system with MirrorLink services, Bluetooth support, navigation and reverse camera display. New features could include automatic AC with dust & pollen filter, front centre armrest, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable OVRMs, a new steering wheel and new dual-tone seat fabrics.
As for mechanical upgrades, the new Skoda Rapid facelift will be powered by the updated 1.5-liter TDI engine from the VW Ameo. The power output has increased from 105 PS to 110 PS, though the torque remains unchanged at 250 Nm. The DSG 7-speed automatic transmission, the 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine developing 103 PS and 153Nm of torque, along with the 5-speed manual will continue being offered on the Rapid facelift.
