While we were busy sampling the all new seventh gen Skoda Octavia on the roads of Himachal and Chandigarh, our counterparts in the west were greeted by the new 2014 Skoda Octavia vRS at the ongoing Frankfurt Motor Show in Europe. While the car was unveiled back in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and is already on sale in the UK, it is only now that the performance variant of the Octy has made its motor show debut.

Visual changes such as smoked headlamps, new front grille, new front bumper, daytime running lamps, low profile tyres, sporty alloy wheels, new rear bumper, a boot lid spoiler and twin exhausts help differentiating between the regular variant and the vRS. The interiors of the car get an all black treatment.

Engine options on offer include a 220 PS 2.0-litre TSI petrol and a 184 PS 2.0-litre TDI diesel, both available with option of a 6-speed manual and a seven speed DSG automatic. The petrol engine is capable of dismissing 100kmph from standstill in just 6.8 seconds and has a top whack of 246 kmph. The vRS diesel can dismiss 100 kmph in 8.2 seconds and has a top whack of 232 kmph.

The new Skoda Octavia vRS rides lower than the standard model. While the sedan variant sits 13mm lower, the hatchback has 12mm of lower ride height. The vRS comes with an advanced multi-link rear suspension and an electronic differential lock (XDS), which is integrated into the ESP.

Indian driving have nothing but loads of great things to say about the earlier generation Octavia vRS that was sold in India. We also got the Laura vRS, which is basically a rebadged last gen Octavia vRS. Hence, there is a good probability that Skoda India would decide to play Santa and bring the upcoming generation of Octavia vRS to us.

Please Skoda. .pretty please.
