While we have just one press shot of the new Mercedes Concept Coupe SUV here, safely expect us to come up with a lot many more images when the latest concept from Stuttgart based car maker makes its public debut at the fast approaching 2014 Beijing Motor Show. The new Mercedes Concept Coupe will spawn a BMW X6 rivaling coupe crossover SUV. The Mercedes Concept Coupe production model, which could go on sale under the MLC moniker, would become the first coupe crossover to wear the three pointed badge and will rival the likes of BMW X6 and the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.

It is highly like that Mercedes will make use of the current generation M Class’s platform for the upcoming MLC. The highly anticipated Mercedes MLC will be positioned between the M Class and the GL Class and will be powered by a set of four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel motors, which would come from the M Class.

As per Mercedes boss, Dieter Zetsche, the MLC coupe crossover will be launched in a bid to bring in new customers, as the upcoming model will play in altogether new segment of premium crossovers. It may be noted that while this segment has only two players, namely the Range Rover Evoque and the BMW X6, as of now, several car makers have set their eyes on the coupe crossover market and could come up with their own new models in near future.

It is being said that the production of the MLC will commence next year at Mercedes’s Tuscalossa facility in Alabama, USA. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the Mercedes Concept Coupe SUV and details from the 2014 Beijing Auto Show.
