We can safely claim to be the first in the country to have reported back when Austrian bike maker KTM revealed details of the 1290 Super Duke R recently. Now, we have some more details, spec and a video of the new ‘kid’ on the block, that is if at all you can dare to call the Super Duke a kid. The new 1290 Super Duke R is easily the most powerful bikes to have come from the famous Austrian bike maker.

In typical Super Duke fashion, the new 1290 looks like a streetfighter on steroids and oozes masculinity. Powering the new bike is a 1301cc V-twin liquid-cooled engine that endows the new Katoom with a max power of 180PS and a peak torque of 144Nm, The motor comes mated to a six speed manual transmission, which boasts of a slipper clutch. It latest Duke tips the scale at a rather modest 189kgs and boasts of a 0-200kmph acceleration timing of just 7.2 seconds (where ‘dem faired superbikes are?)

The bike comes equipped with a twin disc brake setup at front and a single disc unit at rear. The components are courtesy Brembo and the bike rides on Dunlop Sportsmart tyres. This is not all as the bike also gets traction control. The bike can be ridden in any of the four modes- rain, street, sport and plus. As must be obvious, the Rain mode has the highest level of nanny-ing, with the Plus having no such assistance at all.
