We reported in detail when the Honda Jazz made its India debut at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2014. Now, it has emerged that the Honda Jazz India launch could happen in March 2015.
The new Honda Jazz is already on sale in the Japanese Domestic Market(JDM) and has already won plenty of rave reviews from auto experts and car buyers alike. The new Honda Jazz is likely to be positioned somewhere between the Brio and the Amaze, probably closer to the latter.
In India, the new Honda Jazz is likely to be available with two engine options-
- 1.2 litre iVTEC petrol mill mated to a 5 speed gearbox and with peak power of 90PS
- 1.5-litre iDTEC diesel mill mated to a 5 speed gearbox and with peak power of 100PS
The petrol engine is also expected to come with a CVT transmission at a later stage.
The Honda Jazz is sold with the Fit nameplate in some markets
Talking about the new Jazz’s ride and handling, Honda’s Senior Ride and Handling Engineer, Terumasa Kotada had previously said, “In upping our game, we wanted to make a stronger international competitor, so we benchmarked our Fit on the Polo. The moment you get in the Polo, you notice how low you sit in the car. This instills confidence. And then when you drive the Polo, you notice how low its roll center is and its huge stability levels, instilling even more confidence. To get our desired result, I tested the car extensively on the autobahns in Germany.”
When Honda launched the Jazz in the Indian market, the high price tag made the car difficult to move from the showroom floors. Even after a hefty price cut, the car failed to set the sales charts on fire for the Japanese car maker and was pulled out. We can just wait and watch how the new Honda Jazz performs in the Indian market.
