What you see here in the lead pic is the new 2014 Peugeot 308. The new 308 is an all new model and will soon replace the pretty conservative looking current gen Peugeot 308. The bubbly styling and the slightly ungainly proportions of the outgoing model have been replaced by a sleeker and sportier looking design on the new 308.

The new 308 measures 4.25 meter in length and sports Peugeot’s new family face which features stylish full-LED headlamps. These headlamps, as per Peugeot, are “standard on the majority of trim levels and a world-first in the segment.”

Underpinning the new 308 is the new EMP2 modular platform, which makes the new car 140 kgs lighter than the outgoing model.

Engine details haven’t yet been revealed but it has been announced that one of the engine variants that the car will get will be very high on fuel efficiency and very low on tailpipe emissions. This variant has claimed CO2 emission figure of 85 g/Km CO2, which enables the car to be exempted from higher taxation in many countries.

Don’t be too surprised to see a GTi variant of the 308 making an arrival in near future, with a more powerful engine than the outgoing 308 GTi’s 1.6-liter motor. It is being said that there are good chances that the car would get the 260 hp motor that powers the concept version of the upcoming RCZ R.

The new 308 will make its public debut September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
