New Generation Mercedes GL Class to be unveiled in India today

We have been regularly reporting about Mercedes India’s plan of unveiling the new gen Mercedes GL Class in our country. The Indian subsidiary of German luxury car maker has been promoting the upcoming car on social networking websites since sometime now and there is even a Facebook contest underway to promote the upcoming GL Class SUV. In this contest, the participants are required to correctly answer some questions to win a chance to meet tennis star Boris Becker. The winners might also win a chance to get his/her child admitted at Becker’s tennis clinic in Bengaluru.

The new 2013 Mercedes GL Class will be unveiled in India today and it is expected that the carmaker will unveil the GL350 CDI diesel variant. The new GL will be unveiled by tennis legend Borris Becker. The car will be launched in an event in New Delhi and the new GL will be the first car to be launched by Mercedes in India this year. The latest generation of the GL Class made its internationally early last year.

The new car, unlike the outgoing model, will come to us via CKD assembly. However, the initial batches will be imported in to India as via CBU route.

Powering the India spec Mercedes GL Class will be a 3.0 litre diesel engine which has a max power output of 255 bhp and a peak torque figure of 632Nm. The motor is mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
