Skoda India, the Indian subsidiary of the Czech car maker, recently launched the facelifted Superb in the Indian market. Now, according to reports, the new gen Superb will come in 2016, and will be based on the Vision C concept showcased Geneva Motor show 2014.
The new Skoda Superb will be a “revelation” according to Winfried Vahland, Chairman, Board of Directors, Skoda Auto) . The new gen Superb will be based on the B8 platform.
“For the next 10 years, the Superb will be the top of the line”, said Winfried. Like most of the other cars from Skoda, the Superb will be positioned on the outer edges of the segment.
The new gen Skoda Superb will adopt most of its design cues from the Vision C concept. The car will feature a large chrome grille, precisely structured flanks and a new triangular theme to its lamps. Akin to the current gen Superb, the next gen model will also be offered as a sedan and an estate (in international markets). But, the sedan won’t be offered with the dual sedan/hatchback tailgate boot opening.
For the next gen model, Skoda is currently working to improve the aerodynamics of the car. Also, the car will come with the same 1.8 liter turbocharged petrol engine. The 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine is expected to get a 170 bhp state of tune. The 3.6 liter V6 petrol motor has been already discontinued in India, and won’t be offered in the next gen model too.
