New BMW 520d M Sport launched in India; priced at INR 54 lakhs

The new BMW 520d M Sport has been launched in India today, with an all India ex-showroom price of INR 54 lakhs. The new BMW 520d M Sport is locally produced at BMW Plant Chennai, exclusively as a diesel variant and is available at BMW dealerships across India. The BMW 5 Series portfolio consists of two diesel engines (520d and 530d) which are locally produced in Chennai and a petrol engine (520i) available as CBU (Completely built-up) unit.

The M aerodynamics package adds 18-inch M light alloys featuring a double spoke design, additional air inlets on the front apron, side skirts with additional contour lines, a rear apron with exhaust pipe finishers in Dark Chrome, and a diffusor in Dark Shadow metallic. The Adaptive LED Headlights, ‘M’ badge on front wings and M designation on the door sill strip round off the 520d M Sport’s appearance. The new BMW 520d M Sport is available in Alpine White as non-metallic paintwork while Mediterranean Blue and Carbon Black are the available metallic paintworks.

The interior of the 520d M Sport features electrically adjustable sports front seats for driver and passenger in leather upholstery, M multi-function steering wheel, aluminium hexagon interior trim strip and BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite. The 520d M Sport is powered by a 1995 cc diesel engine that combines Common Rail direct injection and a turbo charger with variable turbine geometry to deliver a power output of 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, the engine endows the new 520d M Sport to sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in 7.7 seconds, and on to a  top speed is 233 km/hr. With BMW EfficientDynamics, the BMW 520d M Sport is equipped with a host of technology packages, such as Intelligent Lightweight Construction, Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO modes (ECOPRO, Comfort, Sport), Brake-Energy Regeneration, 50:50 Weight Distribution and many other technologies.

As for safety, the new BMW 520d M Sport features six air bags, Anti-Lock braking system, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC); Cornering Brake Control (CBC); Hill Descent Control (HDC); Side-impact Protection; Electronic vehicle immobiliser, emergency spare wheel and crash sensor. The range of BMW ConnectedDrive features include multifunction instrument display, the next generation of BMW iDrive (the on-board Driver Information System) with 25.9 cm color display, BMW Navigation system Professional with 3D maps (integrated Global Positioning System-GPS), BMW Apps, Park Distance Control, Rear View Camera and Connectivity through Bluetooth / USB devices.
