Bajaj Auto launched the Avenger 220 back in 2010. The 220cc cruiser has now been going on for about half a decade without any major alterations. However, Bajaj has now made up its mind to pump in some freshness into the country’s most affordable cruiser. The company will launch the Avenger 200 by this year’s end, mostly during the festive season. As the moniker suggests, the Bajaj Avenger 200 will house a 200cc engine, sourced from its younger Pulsar 200NS stablemate. On the naked street Pulsar, the engine, a 199.5cc single-cylinder four-stroke unit, makes 23.52 PS of max power and 18.3 Nm of torque.

The new Avenger 200 will benefit from the 200NS’s more powerful engine.

Compared to the more powerful mill that will find its way into the Avenger 200, the outgoing model has its powerplant from the Pulsar 220. This engine makes just a shade over 19 PS and peak torque of 17.5 Nm comes in at 7000 rpm. Apart from the gain in power, expect the newer model to be equipped with a 6-speed gearbox, unlike the 5-speed unit found in the Avenger 220. The upcoming Bajaj cruiser will also benefit from rear disc brakes, but we are skeptical about ABS on the Avenger 200. We also don’t expect major design changes for the new bike, albeit there may some niptucks here and there. Thanks to the revisions and updates, expect the Bajaj Avenger 200 to be priced at around INR 95,000.

Anyway, tell us what you think about the new Bajaj cruiser and give us your opinions/thoughts on the Avenger 200. Keep following Motoroids for the latest insights on the world of auto. Also, click here to read more about a custom-built chopper that’s called the Avenger Bobber.

  1. I agree to Vitthal. Cruiser needs higher tourque. The engine should be relaxed at 90-100 kmph (

  2. Neeraj R Chauhan

I waited so long for the re-launch of Bajaj Avenger 200 and what i get to see is this. Not at all happy with the idea of Bajaj using the same engine. Now i would only decide with the first look of the re-launch of the bike whether to go with the new cruiser or with the old one

  3. Why are they are launching same engine if they go for the double cylinder engine and price around 2 lack so it was a great deal.

  4. It requires a different character for a cruiser
Its not appropriate to use the same engine for the super sport for the naked street fighter a adventure tourer and now cruisers also same engine??
I would like to see a larger stroke on the same 200 cc base block so that engine generates more torque and gives the cruiser a good character!!
And of course a design overhaul is reconemded.
If given a chance there are many young designers aspiring to get their hands on this to make it look up to date and i am among one such aspirants!!
