Powering the new Audi S3 cabriolet is the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four pot petrol motor which also powers the recent Audi S3 models sold globally.

The Audi S3 cabriolet’s turbocharged 2.0-liter TFSI mill develops 296 bhp of max power, which is an increase of 119 bhp over the most powerful front-wheel-drive A3 cabriolet.

The 2.0 liter TFSI motor is mated to a standard six-speed dual clutch auto gearbox and electro-mechanical multi-plate four-wheel drive system. The engine and all-wheel drive system increases the kerb  weight, and the car now tips the weighing scales at 1620kgs.

Audi claims that the car dismisses the 0-100 kph mark in a scant time of 5.4 sec and keeps accelerating before reaching its electronically limited speed of 250 kph.

Accompanying the performance enhancements is a reworked chassis. It gets a 25mm reduction in ride height, firmer springs and dampers andlarger diameter anti roll bars.

Standard fit 18-inch wheels are shod with 225/40 profile tyres, with 19-inch rims available as an option. The brakes also are upgraded to match the performance, with the front discs now measuring 340mm in diameter.

Cosmetic additions include a grey front grille insert, deeper bumpers, chrome windscreen surround and aluminium-look mirror housings among other detailed changes to the exterior. On the Inside, there’s standard Nappa leather and fabric upholstery, sports seats and brushed aluminium trim.
