Avid Toyota fans have to wait no longer as Toyota, the Japanese automobile manufacturer has launched the all new 2016 Fortuner in India today at a starting price of INR 25.92 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. A few days ago, the company had teased the upcoming SUV through an image partially revealing the front fascia of the 2016 Fortuner. Built on the company’s updated International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform, the upcoming Fortuner measures 4795 mm in length, 1855 mm in width and 1835 mm in height while the wheelbase measures 2745mm.

The engine options on the 2016 Fortuner include a 2.8-litre diesel engine and a 2.7-litre petrol engine. The former is a 2755 cc four cylinder unit that produces 177 PS at 3400 rpm and 420 Nm (MT)/450 Nm (AT) of torque at 1600-2400 rpm. Transmission duties on the model are taken care of by a six speed manual transmission and a six speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Also on offer for the diesel variant would be a 4WD option.
The petrol engine is a 2694 cc four cylinder unit that is capable of producing 166 PS of power at 5200 rpm while the peak torque of 245 Nm comes up at 4000 rpm. This motor comes mated to either a five speed manual transmission or a six speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

Features on the all new Fortuner include projector headlights with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, puddle lamps, chrome plated door handles, electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators, automatic and powered tail gate. For the interiors, the model comes equipped with Brown leather seats, push-button start/stop, cruise control, two drive modes (power and economy), automatic climate control, 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system, tilt and telescopic steering column, eight adjustable driver seat, and a cooled upper glove box.
Safety features on the 2016 Toyota Fortuner include seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Active Traction Control (A-TRC) system, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with brake assist, Hill Assisst Control (HAC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC), Speed Auto Lock with Emergency Unlock. Bookings for the all new Fortuner as well as deliveries shall begin from today.
