The Hyundai i20 underwent a facelift in India in 2012. This facelifted i20 saw the inclusion of LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL’s) on the car.  Talking about the new features introduced with the facelift, the car got a push button start, a reverse camera, automatic day and night rear view mirrors, automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers among other additions.

The next gen 2015 Hyundai i20, test mule of which you can see in these pics, will have a longer wheelbase, marginally more width and even more spacious interiors than the outgoing model.

The next 2015 Hyundai i20 is expected to make its public debut this year, and the car will come as a 2015 model. While the next gen i20 seems to have got a longer wheelbase, it is unlikely that the overall length of the car will exceed 4 metres. The current i20 measures 3,995mm, which means that the next car might not be longer than the current model. It may be noted that India is an important market for Hyundai and a 4m-plus overall length would mean that the car won’t be eligible for excise duty benefits in our country.

Globally, Hyundai will be using the 1.1 liter 3 pot diesel engine and the 1.2 liter 4 pot gasoline engine, along with the 1.0 and 1.4 liter diesel motors in the car. The India spec car will continue to be sold with the 1.4 liter 4 pot diesel and the 1.2 liter 4 pot petrol motor. The engines will be mated to 5 and 6 speed manual transmissions, with the automatic transmission being available only with the petrol engine.
