We reported in detail when the new 2015 Cadillac Escalade was revealed earlier this year (Click here to read our full report). Now, the new Escalade has made its public debut at the ongoing 2013 LA Auto Show and here is all that you need to know about the new American SUV.
The Escalade, which is arguably the ultimate Gangsta ride, looks more butch than ever! The car comes with a wider front grille and new LED headlamps. The new 2015 Escalade will be sold in two body variants- a regular wheelbase model (measuring 5,180mm in length) and an extended-length ESV edition (measuring 5,698mm in length). The latter is considerably longer than the new 2014 Mercedes S Class LWB (5206mm).
The interiors of the Escalade have been put together using top class materials and the new gen SUV comes loaded to gills with various gadgets. Talking about the interiors of the new Escalade, Cadillac has said- “real wood combined with premium cut-and-sewn materials and sueded accents, along with ambient lighting”. It has also talked about the “tight tolerances of the instrument panel and door panels, precision controls and triple-sealed doors were engineered and designed to reinforce a feeling of quality“.
Equipment on offer includes the new touch-sensitive CUE system with an eight-inch display, bluetooth, navigation system, a Driver Awareness package, Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Alert. Worth mentioning is that instead of the traditional gauges, the car gets a reconfigure-able, high-res 12.3-inch display. To make the Escalade less popular with thieves, it has been bestowed with intrusion sensor, inclination sensor and glass breakage sensors, and Cadillac’s OnStar Stolen Vehicle Assistance.
The Escalade 2015 is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 direct-injection engine that has a max power of 420hp and peak torque of 460 lb-ft. The motor comes mated to a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission and the SUV can be bought in either 2WD or 4Wd layout.
