The 2013 Skoda Octavia has been spotted testing in India on numerous occasions. We have posted several spy shots of the upcoming next gen Octy testing on Indian roads. However, these images are of only the exteriors and what we have here today are the first ever pics of the interiors of the India spec new gen Octavia.

One of the highlights of the new gen Octy’s interiors is the new three spoke steering will which carries Skoda’s new corporate logo.

It is being said that the upcoming new gen Skoda Octavia would introduce Skoda’s new logo and badges in India. The variant of the new Octavia that has been recently spotted sports VW Group’s DSG auto ‘box. This is the same DSG transmission that both the Skoda Laura and the Volkswagen Jetta uses in India in their diesel variants. This also means that the variant that has been spotted could be a diesel variant.

The VW Group owned Czech auto maker is betting big on the new Octy and the car has collected a lot of rave reviews from auto hacks around the world. It is being said that the new car might up the ante in the very competitive mid-size sedan segment. The new Octavia is underpinned by the VW Group’s much publicized MQB platform, the same platform that underpins quite a few recent Volkswagen group cars.

The 2013 Octavia is only a little smaller than the Superb flagship sedan from Skoda. This means that the new Octavia would be half a shoe size larger than the Chevrolet Cruze, the new Hyundai Elantra and the Volkswagen Jetta.

The engine options for the 2013 Octavia are likely to be carried over from the current car would get a 1.8 TSI turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0 TDI turbocharged diesel engine. Skoda India might also add an entry level 1.6 Liter TDI turbo diesel engine variant to keep the costs under check.
It is pretty much for sure that the new Octavia will be costlier than the Laura but on the same time, the car might come across as a much more value for money proposition due to its larger size, newer technology and a bigger equipment list.

We are really excited about the fact that the car will be soon launched in India. What about you?

  1. Everytime I see a VW or a Skoda car on road, i think what a wonderful car, however, the thought evaporates very next instance as horrible A$$ start flashing again.
We still get to read/hear abt horrible service metted out to their customers.
i would like to see companies like these go bust.
