After launching the 3-door and 5-door variants in November last year, BMW group owned Mini will be launching the Cooper S hatchback by the end of March 2015. The Mini Cooper S will be offered in the 3-door avatar only. According to a company official, the Cooper S will be costlier by less than 10 percent of the Cooper Diesel 3-Door.
Powering this hot hatch is a 2.0 liter 4-pot motor cranking out 192PS of peak power at 4700rpm and 300Nm of twisting force at 1250rpm. Tipping the scales at only 1250 kilograms, the Cooper S will be the fastest hatchback officially on sale in India with a claimed 0-100 kmph timing of a mere 6.7 seconds and a top whack of 233 kmph. While in the UK, the Cooper S is available with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, India will be getting only the automatic variant.
Mini will be launching the Cooper S via the CBU route. The pricing for the car is expected to be around INR 33 lakh ex-showroom. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more dope on the Mini Cooper S India launch and other details.
