Mercedes Benz India, the Indian subsidiary of renowned German premium car maker, has launched the AMG variant of the SLK Class roadster. The new SLK55 AMG, which comes to us via CBU route, carries a price tag of INR 1.259 Crores (ex-New Delhi).
With the advent of the SLK55 AMG, the product portfolio of Mercedes Benz India consists of as many as six AMG models- the E63 AMG, the C63 AMG, the G63 AMG and the SLS AMG in both coupe and convertible variants and the new SLK55 AMG.
Powering the new (for India) Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG is a naturally aspirated 5.5 litre V8 engine that has a max power of 430PS. The roadster is capable of hitting 100kmph from zero in just 4.6 seconds. The engine comes mated to a 7G-Tronic (seven speed automatic) gearbox that offers smooth, seamless and quick shifts. The transmission boasts of as many as three driving modes – Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S) and Manual (M).
The new Mercedes SLK55 AMG boasts of features such as- Magic Sky Control roof, Air guide transperent air deflector, active bonnet for pedestrian safety,COMMAND online 7-inch screen, DVD changer and 10GB of on-board hard disk.
The next launch coming from Mercedes Benz India will be that of the new generation 2014 S Class, which will happen in January next year. The new S Class will initially come to us in the S500 petrol variant. Sales of S350 CDI diesel variant are likely to commence in June, after Mercedes India has readied the assembly line for the S Class.
