Mercedes-Benz India today launched the S500 Coupé in India today; with prices starting from INR 2.0 Crore. (ex-showroom Delhi).

The S-Class Coupé (C217) is based on the W222 S-Class, and replaces the erstwhile CL-Class. Arguably one of the most beautiful models in Mercedes’ current line-up, apart from the AMG GT, the S-Class Coupe comes in three variants – the S500 (S550 in the US), along with the angry S63 (launched today at INR 2.6 Crore) and S65 AMG twins from Affalterbach.

The S500 Coupé is powered by a 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 453bhp and 700Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz claims 0-100 kph time of 4.6sec in the 4Matic four-wheel drive equipped models, which are exclusively available in the United States. Power is harnessed by a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

While the luxurious interiors combine the best of materials, finishes and ace craftsmanship, the S 500 Coupé gets a panoramic sunroof, available with the optional ‘Magic Sky Control’ system, wherein the occupants can change the opacity of the sunroof at the touch of a button. And if you wish to part with more moolah, the front of your big fat Mercedes can also be jewelled up with Swarowski crystal encrusted headlamps.

Other assistance systems include DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control with Steer Assist and Stop&Go Pilot, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC with 360° camera, heads-up display, Adaptive High Beam Assist Plus, Night View Assist Plus, PRE-SAFE PLUS anticipatory occupant protection, Active Body Control, ROAD SURFACE SCAN, and the optional MAGIC BODY CONTROL, which allows the S500 Coupé to lean into bends in a manner similar to a motorcyclist or skier. The latter also reduces lateral acceleration acting upon occupants is reduced in a way akin to when driving in a steep curve, and passengers sit more firmly.
