Mercedes-Benz India has launched its flagship sports car, the AMG GT S in India today. The sports car has been launched at an ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs 2.4 crore

The 503-hp 4.0-liter mill in the GT S gets two turbochargers. A successor to the gullwing-doored SLS AMG, the AMG GT is powerful, agile, and alluringly sculpted. Right up there with the best in the business, the AMG GT takes on the likes of the Porsche 911, Audi R8, and Jaguar F-type R coupe. According to AMG, the GT S does its 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.6 seconds with a top speed in excess of 300km/h.

The AMG GT S, a more powerful version of the AMG GT, was launched in the presence of Bernd Schneider – the most successful DTM driver of all time with a total of 43 victories. Among its amazing set of tricks are four chassis and powertrain modes, each one progressively sharper and more savage than the previous. Selected via a rotary dial on the console, even the Comfort mode is quite stiff and aggressive. Then you have Sport, Sport+, and finally the Race mode for bringing the real beast inside the AMG GT S come out thumping its hairy chest.

To keep the weight low, more than 90 percent of the car’s structure is made from aluminium. Ahead of the engine, the front module is made of magnesium. The V8 is connected via torque tube to a transaxle. The GT S also makes use of electromagnetic ferrous fluid to adjust the stiffness of the coupling between the powertrain and chassis, depending on the demands of the current situation. AMG claims their system reacts to changing loads within .001 second.

Developed after rigorous testing at the Nurburgring, the AMG GT is said to have logged in excess of 33,000 km at the Green Hell to ensure its handles like it should. Both the GT S and GT feature locking differentials. But while the GT uses a mechanical system, the GT S features an electrically actuated unit for even better traction.
