Motoroids had earlier reported that the Vitara Brezza was scheduled to launch after the Auto Expo, and now if reports are to be believed, the Vitara Brezza might be launched in the month of March barely a month after the Auto Expo. The compact SUV will be officially unveiled at the Auto Expo which is slated to take place from the 5th of February to 9th of February this year.

The Vitara Brezza is the first product from the company to be fully developed and engineered in India, with development starting in 2011 according to an official from Maruti Suzuki. Code-named the YBA, the sketch of the Vitara Brezza was revealed officially by the company more than a week ago.

The sub 4 metre compact SUV would be launched with 3 engine options. The available options would include a 1.2 litre and a 1.4 litre petrol engine while the 1.3 litre diesel engine would be sourced from Fiat. The diesel engine could also come equipped with the SHVS micro-hybrid technology soon after the launch. Transmission duties would be taken care of by a 5 speed manual transmission while a CVT variant is expected to arrive for the petrol variant later in its life cycle.

Once launched the Vitara Brezza, that means fresh breeze in Italian, would take on the likes of the Mahindra TUV 300 and the Ford Ecosport. It would be sold through regular Maruti dealerships unlike the S-cross and the Baleno that are sold through Maruti’s ‘premium’ dealership network known as Nexa.
