From massive price cuts to hefty discounts, from limited edition models to refunding the initial owners, Maruti Suzuki has done it all to keep the S-Cross in the fame. Even after so many marketing and pricing efforts the folks at Maruti Suzuki have still not given up on their baby, it has been reported that the S-Cross will likely roll out with petrol power-plants by this end of this year. And what’s more exciting about the news is that one of those petrol powered engines will be the newly developed 1.0L Booster jet engine. It is the same engine that was introduced in the Baleno RS Concept. Prior to this news, it was also reported that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will get the 1.0L Boosterjet engine as well. Currently the S-Cross sells in diesel variants only.

The new 1.0L Boosterjet direct-injection turbo engine is said to combine fuel efficiency and power for decent performance. With the help turbo-charger, the engine is claimed to provide outputs that are comparable to the 1.6L naturally-aspirated engine even with its small displacement of 1.0L. Along with this turbo-charged engine, the S-Cross will also be offered with a 1.4L petrol engine borrowed from the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. On the Ciaz the naturally aspirated engine delivers 91 Bhp of max power at 6,000rpm and a max torque of 130 Nm at 4,000.
A series of discounts, price cuts, refunds and offers couldn’t save the S-Cross but with the news of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol variants, it seems to be a right move from the car maker. Well, for now, there is no official confirmation on the news, but we are quite positive and hope that petrol variants roll out soon since it will get make the S-Cross more affordable and will appeal to a wider share of car buyers.
