Not many manufacturers in India can boast of customers lining up to buy their cars even when they haven’t been launched. Maruti is one such car maker in the country and they have already attracted 6000 bookings for the Ciaz sedan. Surprisingly, the car is still not in the showrooms for display, neither have prices been announced and the Ciaz is still a couple weeks away from launch. Looking at the strong demand and to cash-in on the upcoming festive season, the car maker has preponed the launch from Mid-October to the first week of next month.
Maruti has claimed that the Ciaz automatic is the most efficient car in its segment with an ARAI efficiency figure of 19.12 kmpl and although a petrol, it is still attracting a decent number of potential buyers. Maruti dealerships are accepting bookings at Rs 21,000 which is refundable just in case you don’t like the car once you see it in the flesh and drive it. The Ciaz will be offered with two engines, a 1.4-litre K-series petrol engine which develops 92PS of power and 130Nm of torque and a 1.3-litre Fiat sourced Multijet unit which pumps out 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque. The petrol Ciaz has an ARAI certified mileage of 20.7kmpl and the diesel posts 26.2kmpl.
