Maruti Cervo may be launched in India!

Maruti Suzuki since many years was the king of the small car segment which ruled with its Maruti 800. However, it has been losing its glory in the recent times. In an attempt to regain its lost glory, Maruti has launched the Cervo.

The Maruti Cervo will come at a price tag of Rs 150,000 – Rs 200,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Even though the price is more than that of the Tata Nano, the Cervo is believed to have the capacity to provide a tough competition to Tata’s small car. The Cervo may hit the streets in the month of May or June 2010.

The Cervo is a five-door hatchback model which has a very spacious passenger cabin. The car is powered by a 0.7L, 660cc petrol engine which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 60bhp. Like most other Maruti cars, the Cervo will also have phenomenal fuel efficiency.

The firm expects the Cervo to act as a Déjà-Vu of the Maruti 800 and Alto which gave the firm its position in the small car segment. The car will however not be the exact copy of the one that exists in Japan. This is believed to be Maruti’s cost cutting techniques.
