A Mauti Celerio wearing a DDiS badge on its flanks has been spied by Gaadiwaadi.com, indicating that a diesel powered Celerio is not too far off. Expected to host Maruti’s new, self developed, twin cylinder, 793cc diesel engine producing 50 bhp, the Maruti Celerio diesel could be lined up for an early 2015 launch.
The diesel engine will be shared with the upcoming Maruti Y9T mini pick-up, and would most certainly be mated with the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), which would make the Celerio the cheapest diesel car in the country to have an automatic transmission, stealing the title from the Zest. The Celerio Diesel would be offered with  a 5-speed manual transmission as well.
