Malaysia’s largest automaker, Perodua, has launched their first sedan, the Bezza in their domestic market with on-road prices ranging from RM 37,300 (INR 6.15 lakhs) to RM 50,800 (INR 8.38 lakhs). The Bezza, which has already received over 4,028 bookings within just 5 days, is available in five variants, along with a choice of two petrol engines and two transmission options.
The Bezza is based on the same platform as the automaker’s Axia hatchback, and was developed at an investment of RM 300 million. The small sedan measures 4,150 mm long, 1,620 mm wide, 1,510 mm high, and shares its 2,455 mm wheelbase with the Axia. The Bezza’s boot volume is rated at 508 liters, which is almost 100 liters bigger than the Proton Saga’s boot, its nearest competitor.
The Perodua Bezza is powered by a choice of two, Toyota sourced petrol engines; a 1.0-liter VVT-i unit with 67 hp and 91 Nm of torque on tap, along with a 1.3-liter Dual VVT-i unit producing 94 hp and 121 Nm of torque. While both engines come strapped to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, an optional 4-speed automatic transmission is also in the offing.
Standard equipment on the top-end Advance variants include 14-inch alloy wheels, side skirts, leather seats, leather wrapped multi-function steering wheel, power side mirrors, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction control, Hill start assist, and a multimedia system with navigation, Smart Link and reverse camera. The Bezza also comes with a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating for the Advance variant.
