Mahindra XUV 500 bookings to re-open in a couple of days. W8 AWD variant to remain unavailable

We were one of the firsts to report that the bookings of Mahindra XUV500 crossover will resume from 25th January, 2012 and will remain open until 3rd February 2012 at 19 M&M dealers across India.

This time. M&M has planned a lucky draw procedure to allot the cars. This system will be quite similar to the first gen Tata Nano allotment process that we saw.

This sure is a good news for many as they have been waiting to acquire this popular SUV since quite sometime. Now, the bad news is that the new bookings are available only for the 2 wheel drive W6 and W8 variants. It may be noted that Indian manufacturers take a longer time to deliver the All Wheel Drive versions of popular SUVs than to deliver the 2WD variants of the same car. The Mahindra Scorpio 4WD has a longer waiting period than the more popular 2 wheel drive version and similar is the story with the Tata Safari 4X4. This phenomenon is owing to a lot lesser demand for all wheel drive versions as compared to the 2 wheel drive siblings.

If you have been waiting for the bookings to re-open and consider yourself lucky then you sure will be happy to know that Mahindra will start receiving fresh bookings from 25th.
