Mahindra to launch new motorcycle

Mahindra and Mahindra will be expanding its product portfolio in the two-wheeler market by launching a motorcycle next year. The manufacturer have not revealed any information with regards to the engine specification or a segment category that the motorcycle will cater to.

According to Sanjay Mittal, VIce-President of Sales and customer care, the manufacturer is currently working on some motorcycle models and the first one will be launched in 2010. He further said that the company would like to be an end-to-end player in the two-wheeler segment by launching both scooters and motorcycles. The manufacturer is also taking steps to increase the strength of its dealership network. Mittal said that currently there are 325 dealerships which will be increased to 375 dealers by the end of this fiscal.

Mahindra and Mahindra first set foot in the two-wheeler industry out buying the ailing Kinetic Motors in 2008. It currently sells six scooters under its brand name namely the Kine, 4S, Nova, Flyte and the newly launched Rodeo and Duro.
