Mahindra Special Services Group wins UP Police contract for Smart Surveillance 2.0 system

Mahindra Special Services Group (MSSG), a division of Mahindra Defence Systems Limited (MDSL) has secured a three and half year contract worth Rs 44 crores from the UttarPradesh Police Department for implementation and maintenance of Smart Surveillance 2.0 for Lucknow City. With the objective of providing better Governance and improving the quality of life of citizens of the City, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has initiated this project for the Department of Police. The UP Police seeks to lay the foundation for better Governance and create core infrastructure and integrated service levels to ensure a citizen-friendly safe and secure environment in the city.

As a part of the contract, MSSG will design and implement the surveillance network comprising of 280 IP CCTVs, Automatic Number Plate Recognition System (ANPR), Video Analytics, Mobile Surveillance System, Command Control Centre and Data Centre. The project will cover 70 important junctions / locations of Lucknow, with a special focus on entry and exit points in the city, VVIP areas, and all critical and sensitive locations. The contract will have two phases – during the first phase of implementation, lasting about 6 months, MSSG along with its partners will implement the Smart Surveillance System. In the operations phase, MSSG will have the responsibility to maintain the Surveillance System to support the UP Police for its effective use.

According to senior UP police officials, this system will curb criminal activities through increased surveillance of criminal elements and their activities in the city and also help in management of traffic.

I am sure that MSSG, and its consortium of partners will help in equipping the UP Police with the right tools to achieve their objective of enhancing the comprehensive safety for the citizens of Lucknow.”
