Mahindra- BAE’s first Mine Protected Defence Vehicle

Defence Land Systems India (DLSI) is a JV enterprise between Mahindra & Mahindra and globally known defence and security company BAE. DSLI today handed over its first ever Mine Protected Vehicle India or MPV-I to Jharkhand Police. DLSI’s MD and CEO Brig. Khutub Hai handed over the keys of the reinforced vehicle to Mr. B B Pradhan, Additional Director General of Police, Jharkhand Police. The handover of the first vehicle commences the fulfillment of the State’s order of six MPVIs.

The MPV-I is designed to save the lives of our Defence forces in counter insurgency operations. The vehicle has been indigenously manufactured with the company’s new state of the art plant in Palwal, Faridabad. Developed specifically to meet the needs of the Indian armed and paramilitary forces, the vehicle will offer a high level of protection at a cost effective price.

The vehicle combines excellent Ballistic and Blast Protection capabilities. Built on Ural Chassis it incorporates a ‘V’ shaped mono hull chassis which directs the force of the blast away from the occupants and has been tested to withstand the highest level of protection available in the country. In addition to the enhanced protection, the 6×6 vehicle has a powerful engine that ensures high mobility and can carry an entire operational team making it ideally suited for anti-terrorist and anti-Naxal operations. DLSI has a present installed capacity of 100 MPV-I per annum.
