A few days back, Honda Two-Wheelers India showcased 10 premium motorcycles and scooters for the Indian market. Among them was the Rebel 500, a cruiser that had already created interest when it was introduced here as a CBU model in 2025. This time, however, the motorcycle has a major change. Honda plans to manufacture it in India, and that could make a big difference to its price.
The Rebel 500 was earlier sold in India at Rs 5.12 lakh (ex-showroom). Some regional Honda BigWing dealer websites recently showed a price of around Rs 5.50 lakh, but that figure is not expected to be the final price of the India-made motorcycle.
Honda Rebel 500 Price Could Be Below Rs 4 Lakh
According to a recent report, Honda is looking at a much lower price for the locally produced Rebel 500. The motorcycle is expected to be around 25 per cent cheaper than the imported version.
This could bring its expected ex-showroom price to around Rs 3.80 lakh to Rs 3.90 lakh.

The India-made motorcycle is also expected to use around 50 per cent locally sourced parts. The engine, however, is expected to continue being imported. Local assembly and sourcing should help Honda position the Rebel 500 at a more attractive price than the CBU model.
Rebel 500 E-Clutch Also Planned
Honda is also showcasing the Rebel 500 with its E-Clutch system. This version gets the same basic motorcycle but adds Honda’s electronic clutch technology.
The system gives riders more freedom during everyday riding. The clutch can be operated manually when required, or the system can handle clutch operation during starts and gear changes.
This should be particularly useful in city traffic, where frequent clutch operation can become tiring.
471cc Twin-Cylinder Engine
Power comes from Honda’s familiar 471cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled petrol engine. The same engine is also used in the Honda NX500.
Key mechanical details include:

- 43.3 Nm of peak torque
- 6-speed gearbox
- Claimed top speed of 153 kmph
- 690 mm seat height
The low seat is one of the strong points of the Rebel 500. It should make the motorcycle easier to handle for shorter riders, while its relaxed cruiser riding position keeps the focus on comfortable everyday riding.
Features And Rivals
The 2025 Rebel 500 used a simple LCD instrument cluster. For the India-made version, Honda could offer the circular TFT display seen on the Rebel 300 showcased in India.
The motorcycle will sit in the cruiser space alongside models such as the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and Kawasaki Eliminator.
The India-made Rebel 500 could therefore have a very different position from the motorcycle sold here earlier. A price below Rs 4 lakh would make its 471cc twin-cylinder engine, low seat height and cruiser design considerably more interesting.
