The much awaited 375cc variant of the KTM Duke looks poised to kickstart a new segment in the fast developing entry level performance bike market in India. From what we have come to know from our counterparts in Austria, the bike is capable of dismissing 100kmph from standstill in just 5-6 secs and has a genuine 150kmph-plus capability. The KTM 390 Duke is also capable of hitting 130kmph in scant 10-11 secs.

Powering the new KTM 390 Duke is a 4 stroke water-cooled 375cc single cylinder motor that has as many as 44 horses at its disposal and has a peak torque figure of 35Nm. The motor is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox that is derived from that of the 200 Duke. The 390 Duke’s transmission shares quite a few components with the Duke 200’s transmission but comes with different gear ratios.

The fact that the bike is known to have a well sorted out handling package makes the 390 Duke a sure shot recipe for fun.

The Duke 390 shares its crankcase castings with the smaller Duke 200. The 390 Duke’s 375cc engine boasts of stuff such as forged piston and a chrome plated cylinder.

Visually, the KTM 390 Duke is almost identical to the 125cc and 200cc variants, with the only change being KTM Orange paint on the trellis frame, alloy wheels and different decals.
