Pune based popular bike maker Bajaj Auto recently said that the domestic delivery of the recently launched KTM 390 Duke, the second model in the KTM Duke line up in India, would commence towards the end of September.
“KTM 390 Duke bike domestic delivery will begin from the last week of September,” said Bajaj Auto vice president Amit Nandi in an interaction with media persons.
The KTM 390 Duke carries a price tag of approx INR 1.80 lakhs and as per the auto maker, has already garnered above 1500 bookings.
“So far the company has received 1,500 bookings since its launch,” Nandi added. He also said that all the KTM 390 bikes which have been produced at the Chakan plant so far have been shipped to KTM headquarters in Austria.
The much publicized 375cc variant of the KTM Duke seems to have kick-started a totally new segment of the 250-400cc performance bike market in India. The KTM 390 Duke offers quite a bang for buck by boasting of a price tag that is comparable to some 250cc single cyl. offerings in the country and yet has performance figures that are pretty comparable to those of the much costlier Kawasaki Ninja 300.
The bike has a zero-100kmph timing of around 5-6 secs and has a top whack of close to 160kmph. The KTM 390 Duke is also capable of hitting 130kmph in scant 10-11 secs. The 375cc single cylinder motor of the 390 Duke has a max power output of 44bhp and has a peak torque figure of 35Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. The 390 Duke’s 375cc engine benefits from forged piston and a chrome plated cylinder.
Our motorcycle specialists are mighty impressed with the bike’s nimbleness, which along with that powerful engine, makes the bike quite a hoot. Click here to check out our full review of the KTM 390 Duke.
