It has emerged that Pune based Indian bike manufacturer Bajaj Auto has managed to garner as many as 1500 bookings within 2 months of launching the 390 Duke.

While the 390 Duke was launched almost a couple of months ago, the deliveries of the KTM flagship are yet to commence. The domestic deliveries of the second model in the KTM Duke line up in India would commence only towards the end of next month.

“KTM 390 Duke bike domestic delivery will begin from the last week of September,” said Bajaj Auto vice president Amit Nandi in an interaction with media persons. The KTM 390 Duke carries a price tag of approx INR 1.80 lakhs and as per the auto maker, has already garnered above 1500 bookings. “So far the company has received 1,500 bookings since its launch,” Nandi added.

The much hyped 375cc variant of the KTM Duke has thrown opened doors to a totally new segment of the 250-400cc performance bike market in India.

It won’t be wrong to say that the KTM 390 Duke is a value-for-money proposition like no other. The bike boasts of a price tag that is comparable to some 250cc single cyl. offerings in the market and yet has performance figures that are pretty comparable to those of the much costlier Kawasaki Ninja 300. The bike has a zero-100kmph timing of around 5-6 secs and has a top whack of close to 160kmph. The KTM 390 Duke is also capable of hitting 130kmph in scant 10-11 secs. The 375cc single cylinder motor of the 390 Duke has a max power output of 44bhp and has a peak torque figure of 35Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. The 390 Duke’s 375cc engine benefits from forged piston and a chrome plated cylinder.

Our motorcycle specialists are mighty impressed with the bike’s powerful motor, which along with the nimbleness on offer, makes the bike quite a hoot.

We won’t be a bit surprised to see the KTM 390 Duke becoming one the most successful performance bikes of all times in Indian car market.
