Kia India Delivers 71 Customised Carens to Punjab Police

Kia India, following its debut of the Carens as Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs) at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, has delivered a fleet of 71 specially customized Carens to the Punjab Police. These vehicles, configured as Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs), are poised to provide rapid assistance during critical situations. Kia’s foray into the PBV segment represents a concerted effort to cater to the diverse mobility needs of specialized institutions across India.

The selection of Carens by the Punjab Police underscores its appeal as a mobility solution, attributed to its advanced technology, connected features, spacious wheelbase, and enhanced third-row comfort.

The customized Carens is powered by a Smartstream 1.5 Petrol engine paired with a 6-speed Manual transmission. Equipped with custom High-Intensity Strobe lights, PA Systems, and ‘Dial 112 – Emergency Response Vehicle’ Decals, these PBVs ensure visibility and effective communication in emergency situations. Additionally, a higher capacity battery of 60Ah powers the supplementary equipment seamlessly. The Carens’ generous wheelbase and flexible seating configurations, including split-fold options and multiple charging ports, further enhance its utility for the Punjab Police.

The introduction of PBVs builds upon Kia’s earlier showcase of police cars and ambulances based on the Carens at the Auto Expo in 2023, where the model also secured the prestigious ‘Indian Car of the Year’ award. Through the delivery of these purpose-built vehicles, Kia reaffirms its commitment to meeting evolving mobility needs by providing tailored solutions. This initiative aligns with Kia’s vision of leading the global PBV segment by 2030, demonstrating its proactive approach to innovation and customer satisfaction.
