Kawasaki Vulcan S Launched In India: Details, Images, Tech Specs and Prices

India Kawasaki Motors has launched its Vulcan S middleweight cruiser motorcycle with prices starting from INR 5.44 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings have commenced at Kawasaki Showrooms in the country. The motorcycle has arrived via CKD route and will be assembled at Kawasaki’s Chakan plant near Pune. However, in case you were planning to buy one in the trademark Kawasaki green, here’s some disappointing news. The middleweight cruiser will only be available in the flat ebony colour option in the Indian market.

The motorcycle borrows its liquid-cooled, DOHC, eight-valve, 649cc parallel-twin heart from the from the Ninja 650, but has been re-tuned for better low-end and mid-range grunt, adhering to its cruising credentials. The engine is tuned to deliver 61 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 6,600 rpm.

The Vulcan S features an adjustable ride height of 27.8-inch along with 3-way adjustable foot pegs and adjustable brake and clutch levers. Even the handlebar can be adjusted for reach and can be moved an inch closer if desired. Stopping power is provided by a 300mm front disc, controlled by a two-piston caliper, while the rear wheel gets a 250mm disc along with a single piston caliper.

Speaking at the launch event, Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motor said, “After our sports bikes, tourer bikes, naked bikes & off-road bikes settled in India, we felt it was a right time for us to bring this cruiser in the market. There cannot be a better way to start a new year by introduction of our world-wide known Vulcan brand. FUN TO RIDE is Kawasaki’s global ideology, which perfectly fits to Vulcan S.”

He further added, “It is different than any other cruiser mainly because of its powerful, yet easy-to-control engine, easy manoeuvring, light weight, yet stable, and highway riding and important to mention 14 litre fuel tank with good fuel economy.”
