Can there be a better time for Indian motorcycling enthusiasts? Global manufacturers realise the importance of the ever growing two-wheeler market in India and are bringing in their most premium offerings into the country. Kawasaki Motorcycles has been catering to the Indian audience for quite some time. Currently, the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer retails a major chunk of its product portfolio in the subcontinent. But the biggest surprise came this month when Kawasaki introduced the mesmerising and technologically advanced Ninja H2 at a highly competitive price tag of Rs 29 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi).
The Ninja H2 is equipped by a 998cc four-stroke liquid-cooled supercharged DOHC engine that delivers 200 PS of power at 11,000 RPM. But with Ram Air, the output figure increases to 210 PS at 11,000 RPM. The peak torque output stands at 133.5Nm at 10,500 RPM. The engine is installed on a high-tensile steel trellis frame with swingarm mounting plate. The weight of the motorcycle, with standard equipment, all necessary operating consumables and a full tank of fuel, stands at 238 kilograms.
The safety net is taken care by advanced electronics that can be turned off depending on rider preference. The Kawasaki Ninja H2 receives new KTRC (Kawasaki TRaction Control) with multi-level modes, plus an independently activated Rain Mode. Designed to assist the rider by optimising acceleration from a stop, KLCM (Kawasaki Launch Control Mode) electronically controls engine output to prevent wheelspin and minimise wheelies when launching. Riders can choose from three modes, each offering a progressively greater level of intrusion. Each mode allows the rider to launch from a stop with the throttle held wide open.
Kawasaki’s supersport-style ABS is standard equipment on the Ninja H2. KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System) uses brake pressure control, which enables the system to avoid reduced brake performance due to excessive pressure drops, allows lever feel to be maintained when KIBS is active, and ensures ABS pulses feel smooth (not heavy).
