Lady luck is still smiling on Karun Chandhok. After receiving a prestigious invite to the Goodwood FOS (Festival Of Speed) last week, he has now secured himself a new sponsor! Jaypee Sports International (a Jaypee Group company) has announced that it has entered into a partnership with Karun, who currently drives for Hispania Racing’s HRT F1 team. From the Silverstone Grand Prix onwards, all HRT F1 car’s will sport the Jaypee group’s logo for the rest of the racing season. In return, Karun will be the brand ambassador for his new sponsors and endorse the group along with its brands and products.The Jaypee Group has also bagged the exclusive rights to sell Hispania Racing and Karun Chandhok merchandise in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Uttar Pradesh.
For the uninitiated, Jaypee Sports International is the same company that is currently constructing India’s first Racing circuit for F1 racing at Greater Noida. Once completed, the 5.14 long circuit is scheduled to host its inaugural F1 race in October/November 2011. Speaking about their new partnership, Sammer Gaur, Managing Director of JPSI, said that the group is very happy to be sponsoring Karun Chandhok in Formula One. He further said that Karun is a talented racing driver and deserves all the support that we can proovide. He also reveled that apart from establishing the Jaypee Group’s commitment towrds F1, this new move will also provide a flip to the popularity of F1 racing in India and build excitement for the first race that the group expects to host in the country towards the end of next year.
