JK Tyre-MMS Rotax Kart Open to be Flagged off at Kari Centre, Hyderabad

The Karting season in the country is all set to kick-off with the JK Tyre-Meco Motorsports Rotax Max Kart Open 2013 scheduled to be held over the forthcoming weekend at The Kart Centre – Lahari Resorts in Hyderabad. Presented by JK Tyre in association with MECO Motorsports, the event comprising of two rounds will be held on May 4-5, 2013 with young motorsport enthusiasts of the country getting an opportunity to showcase their racing skills.

Earlier known as the JK Tyre-MMS Rotax Rookie Cup till last year, this will be the fourth edition of the event, which has become a stepping stone for talented drivers to get into the JK Tyre-Rotax Max National Karting Championship-India’s only karting championship. Participants will be divided into three classes on the basis of their age namely Micro Max (7-12 years old), Junior Max (13 -16 years old) and Senior Max (16 years and above). Karters will battle it out to be crowned the JK Tyre-Meco Motorsports Rotax Max Kart Open Champion and Rookie Champion. The event will have a total of 35 drivers representing some of India’s top Karting teams such as Meco Racing, Rayo Racing, Mohites Racing.

The weekend will begin with qualifying races followed by five races in each class of Round 1 on Saturday, May 4 followed by Qualifying and five races in each class of Round 2 on Sunday, May 5. Since Karting is the most important step in the entire motorsport program, this year entries have also been opened to drivers who have been on the Podium in the Rookie Cup as well as in the JK Tyre National Karting Championship last year, which will help them prepare for the upcoming National Championships.

Mr. Akbar Ebrahim, President, Meco Motorsports, said, “JK Tyre-MMS Rotax Max Kart Open or the Rookie Cup as it was known till last year is a pre-cursor to the National Karting Championship and a platform where future champions are seen first. For racers interested in pursuing motorsport, this is the first exposure to competitive racing, which not only gives them the real experience, but also the much needed confidence at higher levels. As mentioned we have seen many future champions rising from this event and we are certain that this year will not be any different.”
