All you need to know about upcoming Jeep Wrangler

As we recently posted, Fiat owned Chrysler’ Jeep brand of SUVs are headed to our shores. Jeep will start its Indian innings with the very popular Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Wrangler will start being imported and sold in India by Oct-2013 and will soon be followed to India by the Grand Cherokee.

Here is a lowdown on the upcoming Jeep Wrangler SUV that would kickstart the Indian operations of Jeep.

The Wrangler can’t be mistaken for anything but a Jeep. The Jeep Wrangler can be bought with a standard soft top or removable hard top. Either ways, you can remove the doors and the windshield can be folded down.

Enough can be said about the Wrangler. Many interesting SUV designs come from various auto makers but nothing comes close to the timeless beauty of a Jeep. The Jeep has seen many styling updates in its long history but the basic design form remains essentially the same. The new Jeep Wrangler manages to look very modern but the design still has every gene of the original Jeep.

The Wrangler can be safely termed as a modern day avatar of the vehicular hero of World War II.

World over, the Wrangler is known for being a definite style statement and the upcoming off roader is a ‘must have’ for a picture perfect party at a beach. Heck, take the Wrangler out on the city streets and you don’t need to be the lead guitarist of your college rock band to set the fairer sex drooling.

Powering the Jeep in US markets is a 3.6 liter Penstar V6 engine with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. As is obvious, the Wrangler gets the four wheel drive as standard.

The Jeep Wrangler in Sahara and Rubicon trim levels. The Sahara comes with Infinity audio components, remote keyless entry, power window, security alarm and 18-inch wheels. The Wrangler Rubicon is equipped is an off roader’s delight with heavy duty axles, front and rear electronic locking differentials, sway bar disconnect system, rock rails, 32-inch mud tires and a heavy-duty transfer case with 4:1 low-gear ratio being on duty.

The new Jeep Wrangler is expected to come with a price tag of INR 22-25 lakhs.
