Tata group owned British premium car maker and iconic car brand Jaguar today launched its new, much-discussed F-Type performance car in India.
The new Jaguar F-Type plays a vital role in keeping alive the manufacturer’s legacy of producing two-seater, convertible sports car focused on delivering excellent performance, great agility and loads of driving pleasure (remember the E-Type?).
The Jaguar F Type has won many accolades from some big names in auto-publications industry.
Visually, the F-TYPE’s exterior demonstrates a new sports car design language for Jaguar, with cleaner lines delivered through the discreet use of technology such as deployable spoiler and door handles.
The Jaguar F-Type was recently declared as the 2013 World Car Design of the Year. Commenting on this achievement, Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, said: “No design project has given me greater pleasure than the creation of the F-TYPE. It’s a project I’ve looked forward to from the moment I joined Jaguar, and it’s one that’s given my team and I great satisfaction. The F-TYPE is a sports car that is true to Jaguar’s design values – beauty of line and purity of form – and I’m honoured that the World Car of the Year jury has recognised our work with this award.”
Commenting on the launch of the new F-Type in India, Rohit Suri, Vice President, Jaguar & Land Rover India, said: “The Jaguar F-TYPE is our all-new, two seater sports car and we believe it will be a game changer for the Indian sports car market. With its stunning design and driver focused engineering, this car will further enhance the appeal of our brand and I am confident that it will arouse senses and stir emotions like no other car in India”.
The Jaguar F-Type will be sold in India in two engine variants- V6 S and V8 S.
The F-Type V6 S is powered by a 3.0 litre motor that is forced fed by a supercharger. This engine has a max power output of 380PS. The F-Type V6 S has an electronically limited top whack of 275 kmph. The V6 S is capable of dismissing the 0-100kmph run in merely 4.9 secs.
The Jaguar F Type V8 S is powered by a 5.0 litre V8 supercharged engine that has a max power of 495PS. The more powerful variant has a top whack of 300 kmph. The V8 S is capable of hitting 100kmph from standstill in just 4.3 secs.
Both the engines come coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox that transmits power to the rear wheels. The S models also have an ‘Active exhaust’ system and an optional Configurable Dynamics programm is available on the V8 S. This allows the driver to tailor a number of the dynamic features to personal taste and includes lap timer and G-meter functionality.
